How to Add Base Network to MetaMask?

To participate in the IDOs launching on the Base Network, a popular Ethereum L2 incubated by Coinbase, you will need to add Base Mainnet to your Metamask wallet. 

New to MetaMask?
MetaMask is the most popular EVM wallet primarily supported by the Polkastarter protocol. Start by setting up the browser extension wallet by following the instructions. Once you get to the backup seed phrase, write it down. It will be more secure on a piece of paper than stored on your computer or phone.

Have your MetaMask set up?
In this article, you will find three options with easy steps to add Base to your wallet. Let’s begin!

Option 1: Select Base network on the Polkastarter website

1. Go to polkastarter.com.
2. Connect your wallet.
3. Click on the network icon in the top right corner.
4. Go to Choose Networks and select the “Base” icon.
5. Approve adding the network to your wallet.

Option 2: Use Chainlist

1. Visit Chainlist.
2. Connect your wallet, click “Add to MetaMask” and in your wallet, approve the request to add the network.
3. Search "Base", and confirm network details (Chain ID: 8453).

Option 3: Add network manually

1. Open the MetaMask browser extension.
2. Open the network selection dropdown menu by clicking the icon in the top-left corner.
3. Click the “Add network” button.
4. You can choose Base directly, or in the 'Add a network manually' dialogue enter the following information:
5. Select Base, or click “Add a network manually”.
6. Tap the “Save” button to add Base as a network.
7. You should now be able to connect to the Base mainnet by selecting it from the network selection dropdown menu.
